My whole life I’ve wanted to be able to draw but never thought I had the “talent”.

Recently I started watching the ‘Makers/Crafting’ and ‘Art’ streams on Twitch and eventually came across Anthony Wheeler’s stream. He as a person and his community really inspired me to give things a try (I’ll write about the Chaotic Draw Along soon…probably). As I started dabbling, inktober was coming up so I decided to give it a shot and I managed to do all 31 days within the 31 days!

Had some audio issues so I had to cut in the audio from my camera here and there. Sorry about that but it's great to be back!

Welcome to the first episode of my new video podcast! I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while now and I finally got up the courage.

This is my first time doing a video project like this and trying to edit and all that good stuff. I can definitely see where improvements need to be made (the light reflecting in the glasses! The framing! Etc!) but overall I’m proud of it. Show notes after the video!

Specifically, am I doing something wrong?

Well, cool, I spent probably 40 minutes writing a post and it disappeared.

Sigh

On the 2nd, I started The Traveling Companion Shawl (Ravelry link) using some yarn I bought during the Eat. Sleep. Knit’s Black Friday secret sale.

Earlier in the week, I learned it was supposed to snow a decent amount (I live outside of Portland, OR…it doesn’t snow much here). This of course meant I would need a hat. Therefore, I should knit one!

In 2 days.

I am nothing if not ambitious.

I have grown bored of the scarves. Turns out starting 3 knitted scarves, finishing a woven scarf and starting another woven scarf might have been overkill. Who could have guessed?

Remember last time, I mentioned that I was going to undo my weaving so I could re-warp it and wind it on with craft paper? To be honest, I thought it would be as simple as just putting some tension on the yarn and unwinding it then re-winding it once the paper got here.

This is where I ended up:

It turns out that weaving is pretty rad. And fast. So fast it’s like magic. All told, it took me about 3 days to finish this scarf.
