New Project

I have grown bored of the scarves. Turns out starting 3 knitted scarves, finishing a woven scarf and starting another woven scarf might have been overkill. Who could have guessed?

That’s not to say there hasn’t been progress on the Dudester Scarf (Rav link).

It looks the same, but a bit longer. Also, I was too lazy to light it properly. Sorry about that.

So I’m taking a break and wanted to do something other a scarf. I was going through my project bag stash and found that I had a wip I had forgotten about!

Clearly at some point I started a sock and got pretty far on the cuff. I have no earthly idea what yarn this is. I have a feeling it’s Manos del Uruguay in Candombe. This is because at some point I accidentally bought a second skein of the same sock yarn not realizing I had one at home. Turns out I was drawn to the colors. I can only find one of them now, so it would make sense but I make no guarantees.

After knitting a few rounds on that, I was bored again. I wasn’t in the mood for small needles. I had a good pout and considered starting a hat or something but that wasn’t calling to me either.

We’re currently in that weird weather pattern where it’s not quite warm enough to have the AC on all the time but not quite cool enough to not have it on at all. (I want to open a window but since half my state is on fire and our air quality is in the hazardous spectrum, we can’t.)

What this generally means is the AC is going for a while and my feet get cold so I steal Matt’s slippers that don’t fit quite right.

This is when I had a lightbulb moment. I remember that years ago the Yarn Harlot posted about making felted slippers and how easy it seemed. I went back and read that post and then found the pattern and thought about casting it on. Then I realized I don’t have the appropriate yarn. Most of my stuff is superwash - so no felting. Then I poked around Ravelry for a while and found a non-felted slipper pattern that I think I can do. Plus some enterprising person has made a calculator for different foot sizes.

All that to say, I’ve casted on for the Non-Felted Slippers by Yuko Nakamura (Rav link). I’m not entirely sure how this:

Is going to turn into this:

But I’m willing to give it a go. I assume there is some sort of magic or ritual that must be done.

It’s the first time (that I can think of) that I’m holding yarn double so that should be interesting. I also don’t have two colors so it’s all going to be in the purple. Probably. I have some non-superwash cascade 220 in a blue that could work as the ‘body’ of the slipper. Don’t know if they’d look good together though. We’ll cross that bridge when I get to it though.
